Tour du Mont Blanc | MY TRIP
Did you just decide to embark on the TMB adventure, but you still have to figure out how to best schedule your trip? This post describes my travel itinerary and it might give you some inspiration.
Reaching the TMB
DAY 1
01.09.2020
Travel from Zurich to Col de La Forclaz
Since I live in Zürich (Switzerland) and I wanted to avoid any complications at the borders due to COVID regulations in 2020, I decided to start and finish my TMB hike at Col de La Forclaz, just above Trient, in Switzerland. I therefore catched two trains, from Zürich to Visp, and from Visp to Martigny, where I took a bus to Col de La Forclaz.
ACCOMMODATION
I spent one night at Camping de l’Arpille, a camping ground just behind the Hotel du Col de La Forclaz.
FOOD
I resupplied for food and water at home, before leaving Zürich. However, at Col de La Forclaz, I couldn’t resist the temptation of having a typical Swiss dinner at the restaurant of the hotel.
Hiking the TMB
DAY 2 - DAY 10
02.09.2020 - 10.09.2020
The Trail
On the 2nd of September, I woke up to the sound of cow bells, packed my gear and started my solo adventure on the TMB. I then spent 9 days on this stunning trail and I fell in love with the majestic mountains of the Mont Blanc and the green valleys surrounding them. You can find further information about my TMB stages in the post MY STAGES.
Coming Home
DAY 10
10.09.2020
Travel from Col de La Forclaz to Zurich
My trip came to an end right after reaching Col de La Forclaz and closing the circular loop of the TMB. After sharing a beer and spending the last good moments with my trail friends, I hopped on the bus driving down to Martigny, where I first catched a train to Visp, and finally to Zürich.
