Reaching the Rota Vicentina

DAY 1
02.02.2019
Flight from Milan to Lisbon

We took our flight from Milan (Italy) to Lisbon, and then hopped on a taxi to Santiago do Cacém, where we spent one night before starting our hike. Here below you can find our choices in terms of accommodation and food.

ACCOMMODATION
We stayed at the Hotel Santiago Cooking & Nature, a very nice and cozy place close to the centre of Santiago do Cacém.

FOOD
We resupplied at a small supermarket in Santiago do Cacém, where we bought bread, cheese, cold cuts and water for the trail. We then had a lovely dinner at the restaurant of the hotel, where we could taste amazing local food.

DAY 2 - DAY 13
03.02.2019 - 14.02.2019
The Trail

On the 3rd of February, after enjoying a good breakfast at the hotel, we started our adventure on the Rota Vicentina. We then spent 12 days hiking this spectacular trail. You can find further tips about the stages of the Rota Vicentina in the post OUR STAGES.

On the 14th of February, we arrived at Cabo de São Vicente, our trail end point. After spending some time admiring the lighthouse and the ocean’s views from the cliffs, we headed to Sagres by taxi, where we spent one night at the Pousada de Sagres before coming home.

Coming Home

DAY 14
15.02.2019
Flight from Faro to Milan

Our trip came to an end. We hopped on a taxi from Sagres to Faro’s airport, where we catched our flight to Milan. Our mother-daughter adventure along the Vicentina coast made us fall in love with Portugal and allowed us to share unforgettable memories on the trail.
