GR131 | DIARY

This is a personal diary summarizing our experience on the GR131 and describing how each of us experienced this magical trail in Tenerife.

Giudi’s Experience

The GR131 on the island of Tenerife really impressed me with its breathtaking and incredibly diverse terrains. It was a magical experience to cross mystichal forests, majestic volcanic and lunar landscapes with my two trail companions, my mom Gio’ and my sister Gilda. I constantly felt like we were on a epic fantasy expedition, like three little and brave hobbits on their way to Mordor.

I am also very proud of my sister! It was her very first long distance hike, and I was insanely happy to see a smile on her face at the end of each day.

I also came to the realization that it is so beautiful to share a trail experience with people you love! I indeed started developing this trekking passion of mine as a solo hiker, dealing with excitement and difficulties along the way independently. However, when sharing all the good moments and struggles, you’ll have memories to remember and to lough about together for your whole life time.

Gio’s Experience

I am happy to have shared this beautiful trail with my two daughters. We spent unforgettable moments that we will keep close to us forever. Giudi and Gilda were fantastic... they helped and supported me in times of difficulty by taking turns in carrying my backpack, as I injured my knee.

Trekking... a passion that binds us.

A fabulous experience, absolutely to repeat in the future.

Gilda’s Experience

Wow! This was my first real trek and it was an unforgettable experience and definitely one to repeat. Normally during a hike I'm the kind of person who does nothing but think "who made me do it?!", however, when my sister and my mom asked me to join them, I accepted without much hesitation, and I can happily say that I didn't regret it at all.

It was a special trip, with magnificent landscapes and great company. The thing I enjoyed most was the constant change of nature from day to day. The fact that the trail was not monotonous made it all more interesting, and it was hard not to stop and take pictures of the incredible scenery around us.

All I can do is thank my traveling companions for sharing memorable times and for introducing me to one of their greatest passions: trails.
