GR221 | FOOD

Here you can find information regarding resupply strategies for water and food along the GR221.

Water along the GR221

Every evening we filled our bottles with tap water, and I personally carried 1.5L with me every day, since we hiked this trail in March and the temperatures were not extremely high. Additionally, bottled water can be purchased at every village in shops or bars, so I wouldn’t worry too much about running out of water. However, if you are planning to hike the GR221 in warmer months, or to wildcamp along the trail, make sure you pack enough water for each stage!

Food along the GR221

It is possible to resupply in all the villages along the GR221. Some of the refugis even provide a picknick for the next stage on demand. Moreover, warm local meals are served in the refugis and amazing local food can be tasted at the restaurants in the towns.

Our Food Plan

On the GR221, we decided to enjoy the luxury of having dinner and breakfast either at the refuges or hotels we were staying, or at a restaurant in the town. For our lunch on the trail, we always managed to prepare and pack our own sandwiches during breakfast.

Here below you can find a list of all the restaurants we had dinner at:

1 - Ses Fontanelles: Refugi
Just WOW… the Nepalese dinner cooked by the wife of the owner was out of this world!

2 - Estellencs: Restaurant Montimar
Simple but good local dishes.

3 - Esporles: Restaurant Mesòn La Villa
Amazing baked suckling pig!

4 - Valldemossa: Restaurant La Posada
Very good grilled meat.

5 - Deià: Restaurant Sebastian
A good fine dining experience.

6 - Port de Sòller: Restaurant Espiritu Libre
Special and colorful restaurant, cool vibes, great tapas and fish!

7 - Tossals Verds: Refugi
Nice warm soup that felt rejuvenating.

8 - Lluc: Restaurant Sa Fonda
Food was not amazing, but sharing this last dinner with trail friends was quite the experience.
